a blue melodica.
Born in Kraków, Poland, Monika’s first instrument was a blue melodica, a gift from her father. At six, she played it at her music-school audition. Violin and piano followed, and by thirteen she was writing songs of her own.
Her first home-recorded album, Teraz Albo Nigdy — “Now or Never” — marked the step from writing quietly in her room to sharing her music with the world.
“From writing songs secretly in the corner of my room in a tiny flat in Kraków to going public with my music.”
Hundreds of listeners helped fund Nomen Nescio, recorded in Jarocin and released in 2010. In February 2009, her collaboration Phobia with Casper Van Vulpen and Kostek Andreev won the Pop category of Song of the Year. Discover more milestones in the live collection.
